General:
How do subscriptions work?
Känsla’s range is available on subscription to make sure you never run out of your favourite home fragrance. You can select between 1 , 2 and 3 month frequencies to receive your subscription. All subscriptions come with 10% off every time and free shipping!
Once you have made your subscription purchase you will receive an email link to create your customer portal on our website. You will need to use your email address and create a password. You can manage all your subscriptions from here including, skipping orders, pausing, updating products and details. You can cancel your subscription at any time.
The great thing about your subscription is you can change your product and scent prior to your next delivery date. This gives you the added flexibility of picking your favourite scent or trying something new.
Is my packaging recyclable?
Känsla’s ethos is to reuse and recycle and we strongly believe in sustainable products that support our environment.
All of your packaging is designed to be recyclable. Your packing peanuts can be tipped into the sink and they will dissolve with warm water. Your jars can be refilled or reused as a pot for a small plant or anything else that takes your imagination.
Are Känsla products vegan?
Yes. All Känsla products are vegan.
Our products are also cruelty free and never tested on animals. They are free from additives and parabens.
It is important to Känsla that you can shop knowing your products are 100% vegan and cruelty free.
Are Känsla products safe around pets?
Yes. All Känsla products are safe to use around pets, however we always recommend that you test this with your own animals as every animal is different.
Can I send a gift message and do you offer gift wrapping?
Känsla makes the perfect gift. Each item comes in its own branded box ready to gift to someone special. You can even add your own personal gift message at the checkout. Your gift message will be hand written on card and put into an envelope sealed with wax to make your gift that extra bit special.
We also offer free gift wrapping for any occasion. If you add this to your gift message as a note, we will take care of the rest.
Candles:
How do I refill my Känsla candle?
It is so simple to refill your Känsla candle. When your candle has completely burned, place the jar into a heatproof dish and fill the dish with boiling water to just below the candle label line.
Wait for approximately 10 minutes or until the wax loosens from the edge of the candle jar. (you may need to repeat this process)
Once the wax loosens from the edges, gently scoop it out. It will pop out like a disc.
Carefully remove the candle jar from the water and wipe any excess water and wax with a paper towel.
You can now unwrap your new refill and pop it into your jar.

If you accidently damage your candle label during the refill process, don't worry we will include a new label with your refill.
What is in my Känsla candle?
100% soy wax and superior grade fragrance and Essential oils. And that is it!
Pure materials, vegan, cruelty free and eco-friendly.
Our candles are sustainable and reusable. Our concrete candle jars are handmade. The concrete helps keep the heat in and promote a clean even burn.
The thick wooden lid keeps your candle clean, free from dust which means it will last longer.
Should I trim the wick?
Wicks should always be trimmed to ¼ inch. You should use a specialist tool such as our wick trimmer to keep your wick at the perfect length. Trimming your wick will make your candle last longer, smell stronger and stop your candle from overheating and spitting.
A candle should not produce smoke when burning. If it does it means the wick is too long.
Will my candle expire?
100% soy wax candles have a shelf life of around 12 - 18 months. If you take good care of your candle, trim your wick and burn your wax to the edges your candle will last longer.
How should I burn my candle?
If you do not burn your candle correctly you can get a build up of excess wax around the edge of your candle jar. This is called tunnelling.
Tunnelling can easily be prevented. 100% soy wax has a ‘memory’, so your first burn is the most important.
Make sure you burn your candle wax all the way to the edges when you first light your candle. This promotes clean burning meaning your candle will last longer. Every time you light your candle you should always let the wax burn to the edge.
Top Tip - If you don’t burn your candle to the edges the first time and tunnelling appears, safely wrap tin foil around the outside of your candle jar and leave it to burn for a few hours. This will help heat the wax that is around the edge of the candle jar, so it melts and burns evenly.
Because Känsla candles are made in concrete jars, this will help prevent tunnelling in the first place.
Is it normal for my candle to look frosty?
Our candles are made from 100% soy wax. Frosting is a natural effect of soy wax candles. It does not affect the performance of your candle in any way and is also a sign your candle is 100% natural soy wax.
Frosting can appear at any time. Before or after you have lit the candle. Don’t worry if you see frosting, you have a high-quality scented candle.
Should I blow out my candle when I have finished burning it?
No, blowing out a candle produces soot and smoke. You also risk blowing hot wax onto the surrounding areas.
Top Tip - You should use a snuffer to put out your candle. A candle snuffer deprives the candle flame of oxygen which then extinguishes the flame. A candle snuffer can be found in our care kit. Having a lid for your candle also helps after you have used the snuffer.
Reed Diffusers:
Can I use the same reeds and bunny tails when I refill my reed diffuser?
It is best to use a fresh set of reeds when you refill your reed diffuser even if you refill it with the same scent. This is because over time the reeds will get clogged of oil. This shouldn't happen during the lifespan of a reed diffuser but it may happen if you keep refilling it.
Don’t worry, we provide you with a fresh set of reeds and bunny tails with every refill. We recommend that you refill your ceramic jar with the same scent.
What to do if my reed diffuser smells too strong?
If your reed diffuser smells too strong, simply take out 2-3 reeds which will reduce the strength of the scent. You can tailor your desired scent throw by experimenting with the number of reeds.
For larger spaces use more reeds, for smaller spaces, use less reeds.
Keep hold of your reeds in case you want to add them back in.
How long will my reed diffuser last?
Your reed diffuser will last at least 4 months if you take care of it correctly.
We only use rattan reeds in our reed diffusers as they are the best at evenly distributing the fragrance and require the least amount of maintenance.
How do I get the best scent from my reed diffuser?
Place your reed diffuser in a well-ventilated area, but away from direct sunlight. Using your reed diffuser in a room with natural airflow will increase the power of the scent throw.
Reeds become dry and when they do, they stop circulating the scent. Turning your reeds regularly is the easiest way to refresh and recirculate the scent.
Do not turn your reeds straight away when you first use your diffuser, wait 24-48 hours to allow the oil to soak into the reeds before turning. Rattan reeds will provide you with the best scent throw possible but can take a little longer to soak up the oil.
You do not need to add all your reeds to your diffuser. For larger spaces use more reeds, for smaller spaces, use less reeds.
Take care when turning the reeds to not spill any oil on polished or painted surfaces. Never turn your bunny tails.
Incense Cones:
How long should I light my incense cone before blowing it out?
Wait approximately 10-20 seconds before gently blowing out your flame. When you blow out the flame you should see an amber glow at the tip of the cone. This means your incense cone is ready to use.
If you do not see the amber glow, you can simply light the cone again using your Känsla match. Your incense cone will last approximately 1 ho
What are my incense cones made from?
Our incense cones are 100% natural using only raw wood materials, wood powder and makko powder (a natural resin). These ingredients build the base and structure of the cone ensuring they burn evenly and slowly.
Fragrance is added to our cones using essential oil blends to create our signature scent that you would expect from any Känsla product. Some people may experience a mild reaction to incense so we recommend that you test a cone in a well ventilated area.
What are the benefits of Incense cones?
There are some common health and mind related benefits associated with burning incense cones.
They include, relaxation and stress reduction, help to increase focus, allow you to relax and unwind, stimulate creativity and aid mediation.
We advise that you burn your incense cones in well ventilated areas.
Where should I use my incense cone?
You can use your incense cone anywhere; they are perfect for indoor or outdoor use. Only use your incense cone with your ceramic burning dish (included in your reusable concrete box) and make sure it is on a heatproof surface. Always burn incense in a well ventilated area.
Top Tip – Light one of these incense cones in your kitchen after cooking. The house smells amazing after using one of these!
What do I do when my incense cone has finished burning?
Your incense cone will burn for approximately 1 hour. When it has finished burning, the incense cone will turn to ash. Always let the incense cone ash and ceramic dish cool completely before moving. You simply throw the ash away and if necessary, rinse the ceramic dish in warm soapy water.
Can I use different incense cones for my refills?
The best thing about these incense cones is you can mix and match any of the scents. You do not need to keep the same scent in your reusable concrete box so why not try out your favourite fragrances and mix up the scents.
Oils:
How do I use my oils?
You can use your oils in your Känsla Aroma Diffuser Lamp or any other electric diffuser.
You can use these oils in battery or mains operated diffusers.
If you prefer to use an oil burner, make sure you mix your oil with a small amount of water in your burning dish.
How much oil should I use in my Aroma Diffuser?
We recommend 5-10 drops mixed with 180ml of water. However if you prefer a stronger scent you can add more oil.
Use your pipette to control how much oil you add to your water.
We do not recommend using more than 2 pipette's of oil per 180ml of water.
Can I mix different oils together?
Yes, all Känsla oils are from the earthy, woody family and complement each other well.
We have also created specially selected collections that can be found here These are the scents that we believe work well together but try mixing and matching your favourites and see what you come up with.
Room Sprays:
How do I to use my room spray?
Shake the bottle before use and spray into the centre of the room. Adjust how many pumps of the room spray you use depending on the strength you desire.
We recommend starting with 4 pumps in a smaller room and 8 pumps in a larger room.
How long will my room spray last?
Känsla's room sprays are market leading in size. They are 250ml (extra-large)
They will last at least 6 months with regular use. The scent when sprayed will last for a few hours, dependant on the size of the room.
How should I store my room spray?
You should always store your room spray away from flammable objects and out of reach from children or pets.
Your room spray should be placed away from direct sunlight in a cool, dry space. Ensure you replace your wooden lid when you have finished
spraying your room spray.
Is my room spray safe to use on fabrics?
Känsla’s room sprays have been primarily made to be used in the air however they may be used on some fabrics and linens. We would recommend testing your room spray on fabrics in an inconspicuous area first.
What are the benefits of using my room spray?
There are so many benefits to using Känsla’s room spray. They offer an instant freshness to any room alongside offering a unique range of aromatherapy benefits. They are so versatile that they can be used all over the home and are a convenient, quick way to scent your home and clear unwanted odours.
